I'd say this was one of the biggest risks I took in terms of songwriting. The rhyming scheme of the verses was very out there and there were things with music I had never done before, but it was a song I had been sitting on for awhile. I wanted to see if it would work out!
While I don't think it was bad, it...definitely could've been better. There are some things in this song that I feel worked and I liked, but I'm going to give it a bit of a rewrite in the future.
This was shortly after the "Newbie Dash" episode, and since Rainbow Dash finally became a Wonderbolt, I wanted to write a song that was all about what was probably going on in her head now that she finally reached her dream.
lyrics
The end, the end of the line
The end, the end of the line
The suit and goggles are finally mine
I’ve thought about this day for so long
“Aww yeah!” just doesn’t cut how I feel
And now is my time to finally shine
I proved all my neigh-sayers wrong
Still hard to believe this is actually real
What should I do in front of all these cheers?
Cause the joy I’m feeling is driving me to tears
Is this really the end?
The end of the line
The end, the end of the line
I’ve spent so long chasing a dream
That I don’t know how to fly
Alongside like we’re a team
The end, the end of the line
The end, the end of the line
All of my friends outdid themselves this time
One of the best parties I’ve ever had
Catchy music and delicious cake
Add to the prize of a life-long climb
I can’t help but feel kinda sad
When it seems the journey has no more steps to take
The party was awesome, nothing short of great
But is this the last thing I’ll ever celebrate?
Oh, this cannot be the end
The end of the line
The end, the end of the line
I’ve spent so long chasing a dream
That I don’t know how to fly
Alongside like we’re a team
What is there left for me to earn?
How much higher can I go?
Will I shine like a rainbow
Or rainbow crash and burn?
The party’s over and I am all alone
Deflated balloons litter the floor
And I’m left to stare deep into my mirror
It’s then the answer is finally shown
I’m far from done, there’s so much more
I give a little grin, the path is now clearer
“That’s good enough” will never be my motto
I didn’t soar this high just for me to plateau
This will not be the end
The end of the line
The end, the end of the line
I’ve spent so long with ranks to ascend
That I simply have to know
That there’s no way this is the end
Is this really the end?
This cannot be the end
This will not be the end
No, this is not the end
